1 – Compose a list of questions about your loan program

If you find that you don't entirely realize the advantages and disadvantages of all the various programs, make sure to have a list of questions. I or one of my lenders will help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it is hard to know the differences between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.

2 – Decide when you want to lock

When you lock in a rate, a lender is sure to commit to the mortgage interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is presented. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and the issuing of closing documents. 3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to reduce your rate
